SMER's deputy chair Monika Beňová stars as a housewife in the party's new campaign ad for a washing powder with which she is to wash two dirty T-shirts, one belonging to current Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda, and the other to former PM Vladimír Mečiar.
In the ad, presented to journalists on April 3, Smer leader Robert Fico, the second most popular politician after Mečiar, rushes to help Beňová with his special washing powder called Mister Order.
It turns out that Mister Order not only washes the stains out of T-shirts but also erases the politicians' images that were originally emblazoned on the garments.
The 30-second TV spot, which concludes with the disclaimer that "any similarity with real people is purely incidental", will be aired on the public Slovak Television channel before the September parliamentary elections. Fico said at the press conference that his party had ordered 1,500 boxes of the washing powder to be distributed as part of his autumn campaign.
