The Slovak delegation to the EU summit in Brussels on October 29 and 30 will be led by Prime Minister Robert Fico. He will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák, member of Slovakia's Permanent Representation to the EU Ivan Korčok, diplomatic advisor Marek Eštók and Foreign Affairs Ministry EU Affairs Section Director Juraj Nociar.
A summit of the premiers of the Visegrad Four countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland) will take place on the sidelines of the EU summit, the TASR newswire reported.
At the summit, the European Council will evaluate the latest developments in the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon and issues pertaining to climate change, with a special focus on the upcoming climate change conference to take place in Copenhagen in December. The council will also evaluate the effects of measures introduced to tackle the economic crisis, the results of the G20 summit in Pittsburgh and measures taken by the EU to ensure energy security.
