Prime Minister Robert Fico wants to see a meeting of the government, MPs and representatives of the judiciary about changes in the latter sector designed to boost law enforcement as planned by the Justice Ministry.
Fico proposed Žitňanská to organise a meeting with representatives of the Rule of Law initiative on measures for fighting corruption, and indicated a boost in the funding of the Justice Ministry.
“The issue of a law-based state is very important for us, so I want to support the vice-prime minister in talks with the finance minister [Peter Kažimír] concerning the budget for next year,” said Fico, as quoted by TASR. “We want to find additional resources to carry out the vice-prime minister's ambitious plans.”
Fico was speaking after visiting the Justice Ministry on April 2 as part of a tour of individual ministries aimed at checking their progress in implementing the Government Manifesto.
The planned changes to combat corruption, improve conditions for the judiciary and those involved in human rights will bring quite a significant shift, according to Fico.
The Prime Minister said that he was happy to hear from the Vice Prime Minister and the Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská of Most-Híd that a new law on the presence of letterbox-headquartered companies in public business will go first to parliament. This bill could then be approved in the second half of 2016.
