The current economic and financial crisis will be the main issue to be discussed at an informal lunch meeting of EU leaders on March 1 in Brussels.
The extraordinary session of the European Council has been summoned by its president, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, the TASR newswire wrote.
At its session on February 25, the Slovak cabinet decided that Prime Minister Robert Fico would lead the Slovak delegation. The informal meeting should act as preparation for the regular council session planned for March 19-20, 2009, in Brussels. At that summit, among other things, the implementation of a European Plan for Reconstruction will be evaluated. The plan was adopted by the leaders in December 2008. TASR
