A group of fifteen judges have written an open letter to Slovakia's senior constitutional officials as well as the Justice Minister and the Judicial Council saying they regard disciplinary proceedings under way against some judges as a tool for their removal from the post of judge or at least as a tool of intimidation or harassment.
The letter mentions disciplinary proceedings against judges Anna Benešová, Darina Kuchota, Milan Ružička and Robert Urban, while there are still more judges who they believe to be subject to disciplinary proceedings because they are critical of the president of the Supreme Court and head of the Judicial Council Štefan Harabin, or judges from his close circle or who decide cases in which Harabin has an interest, the judges wrote, according to the SITA newswire.
