Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš presented Slovakia's state budget bill for 2005 in Parliament December 3, the TASR news agency wrote.

Mikloš asked MPs to approve a budget based on revenues of Sk258.6 billion (€6.46 billion) and expenditure of Sk320.1 billion (€8.01 billion). The target deficit is Sk61.5 billion (€1.54 billion).

"With the implementation of this budget, public finances will reach a level that is sustainable over the long-term. It will also prepare public finances for the elderly and enable the gradual reduction of the public finance deficit to 3 percent of GDP," Mikloš told lawmakers.

All four ruling parties (ANO, SMK, KDH and SDKÚ) have said they will support the 2005 state budget in Parliament in the days ahead.

MPs of the co-ruling liberal ANO party, will give their support on the condition that the other three coalition parties do not demand anything other than what has been agreed during coalition talks.
