The Commission authorized by Finance Minister Ján Počiatek to prepare the Bill on Income Tax has proposed to cut income tax from the current 19 to 16 percent.
This cut in the government’s income would be compensated for by abolishing tax allowances for privileged groups, such as MPs, judges and prosecutors. According Finance Ministry advisor Richard Sulík, the proposed changes would not include the VAT, which should stay the same.
