Finance Ministry to launch audit of UNITAS information system

The Finance Ministry has decided to launch a comprehensive analysis and audit of all contractual relationships pertaining to implementation of the KONS information system that was to support the unified collection of tax, customs and payroll levies under the UNITAS project, said Finance Ministry state secretary Peter Pellegrini, as reported by the TASR newswire. Pellegrini said the reasons behind the audit are the relatively high numbers of invoices received.

"I don't think that we can say without any shadow of a doubt what kind of invoices we're dealing with and what exactly it is that the Finance Ministry should pay for," he stated, as quoted by TASR.

He did not specify the sum involved in the invoices and said an independent institution will be tasked with carrying out the audit. "Based on its findings, we'll be able to take further steps," Pellegrini stated.
