Slovakia will not restrict internet-based gambling websites through legislation, the Sme daily wrote on November 8.
The Finance Ministry has withdrawn its proposal that would have restricted online gambling sites that do not have a Slovak license. EU officials in Brussels and representatives of individual EU member states did not support such a change in the law when the Finance Ministry asked for expert opinions.
The ministry announced the withdrawal of its proposal based on "differing opinions within the EU" as well as criticism from within Slovakia as the Justice Ministry also did not support the idea.
