Fire attacks Staré Hory forest area again

Fire fighters continued to wrestle with a forest fire near the village of Staré Hory in Banská Bystrica Region that broke out again on April 21 even though earlier reports said that the fire had been extinguished, the TASR newswire wrote. "We haven't managed to put out the fire as yet. Around 1.5 to 2 hectares of forest are in flames," said Bibiana Bendíková, spokesperson for the Banská Bystrica Regional Fire Brigade Headquarters.

The same area was hit by fire between April 10 and 12, with 100 hectares of woodland affected. A total of 178 fire fighters plus helicopters were called in during that fire.
