Firefighters tackling the forest fire in the Slovenský Raj (Slovak Paradise) National Park (Košice region) have managed to bring water up to the edge of the affected area, Ondrej Šproch, commander of the firefighters from Poprad, said on July 29.
The fire brigade was tackling two local fires. According to the commander, the wind was making it difficult to say how the attempts to extinguish the fire were progressing.
The fire in the park, which broke out in difficult-to-access terrain, has now been burning for more than a week.
