BUSINESS disputes are among the longest lasting in the Slovak court system, according to the findings of the Hospodárske noviny daily.
"These disputes often arise from unclear contracts, sales of companies and unfair competition," the Justice Ministry's Ľubomíra Miklovičová told the daily.
On average, business court disputes take around two years to resolve, resulting in higher legal expenses and possible business complications.
Court delays also cost the state a lot of money. In the first three months of 2006, Slovakia's Constitutional Court ordered that Sk5.5 million (€147,000) be paid out to people who have filed official complains over court delays.
