It is well-known that Norwegian King Harald V and Queen Sonja do not make excessive demands and that they do not insist on pomp, Slovakia's First Lady Silvia Gašparovičová told the TASR newswire shortly before the Norwegian royal couple's upcoming visit to Slovakia.
Preparations for the state visit, which will take place between October 25 and 28, began in January, and the programme corresponds with efforts to promote Slovakia in its best light, as well as the royal couple's interest in visiting projects that have received financial support from Norwegian money via the Norway Funds.
The programme for the two first ladies will focus on activities in which both are involved such as assistance to disabled children and adults. "We won't ignore the latest developments in the spheres of education and culture," said Gašparovičová, adding that modern and traditional Slovak art is on the programme as well. "We will also offer Their Majesties some Slovak culinary specialities, of course," she added.
