APPROXIMATELY 30 percent of people say that their incomes have decreased since the introduction of the 19-percent flat tax income rate.
A daily SME/MVK agency survey found that only seven percent of people felt that their incomes had increased and 40 percent said they had not noticed any change.
The Finance Ministry does not agree with people’s perceptions and asserted that the parameters of the flat tax system were set in such a way that no one would experience a decrease in incomes.
Despite this, people without children earning from Sk12,000 to Sk22,000 (€306 to €561) per month could be earning tens of crowns less per month because of the tax reform. These people do not get the tax bonuses that those with children get.
However, the Finance Ministry blames payroll taxes rather than income tax for this situation.
