According to Bendíková, the heavy rain affected mainly the area around Žiar nad Hronom, causing most damage in the villages of Lutila, Horná Ves and Šášovské Podhradie. The deluge also hit the towns of Zvolen, Banská Bystrica, Veľky Krtíš, Brezno and Nová Baňa, where houses were flooded and fallen trees blocked roads, although these have now been removed.

The railway link between Margecany and Krompachy in Košice Region was disrupted after landslides blocked the tracks on Tuesday morning. No trains are currently travelling between Košice and Bratislava, rail passenger transport company ZSSK reported.
