The list of the richest people in the world published on March 10 by US magazine Forbes includes a Slovak with Czech citizenship, Andrej Babiš. He placed 938 with his property assessed at $1 billion, the Sme daily wrote on its website.
Apart from him, two more Czechs placed in the chart; Petr Kellner who already was included in the list in previous years, was joined by Zdeněk Bakala. Kellner, co-owner of the PPF company, is the 89th richest person in the world, with his wealth estimated at $ 7.6 billion.
Mexican Carlos Helu leads the chart for the first time – thus being the first person from a developing country to top the chart. In second place is Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, and third is US investor Warren Buffet. Forbes has included people on the list whose assets amount to at least $ 1 billion. This year, there are 1011 of these individuals, more than last year but less than in 2008. According to Forbes, this could show that the crisis is retreating. Sme
