The US-based carmaker Ford Motor Company has confirmed it is considering building a plant in Eastern Europe.
"Eastern European markets are growing and we will have to think about a stronger presence in the region," the company's European spokesman, Todd Nissen, told the Hospodárske noviny daily.
The weekly Trend magazine also wrote that real estate firm CB Richard Ellis is handling the relocation of an existing plant of an unnamed US carmaker from Western to Eastern Europe. As well as Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia are also supposedly being reviewed as possible new locations for the plant.
However, Ford would not confirm whether its plant was the subject of the article.
