Slovak ambassador Ľubomír Kopaj has become the new head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission in the republic of Montenegro.
“The nomination of a Slovak candidate is the confirmation of an active role of Slovakia in the OSCE and in the region of the Western Balkans, and also the acknowledgement of the qualities and professional expertise of Kopaj, who successfully worked, among other positions, as head mission-coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine,” the ministry’s press department wrote, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
The OSCE mission in Montenegro was founded on June 29, 2006, and is the most recent OSCE mission. Its role is to support Montenegro’s efforts at reforms, the strategic goal of which is European and NATO integration of the country. The mission has 44 employees and it is active in supporting democratisation, reforms in legislation, police and media, environmental protection and economic development.
