Foreign direct investments at Sk19.9 billion

THE INFLOW of foreign direct investments to Slovakia amounted to Sk19.9 billion (€494 million) at the end of June 2004. Of this sum, Sk15 billion (€373 million) flowed into the corporate sector and the rest was invested in banks, the news wire SITA wrote.

The highest volume of investments, Sk6.1 billion (€152 million) arrived from Hungarian investors. The investments flew in particular into industry, which reported Sk9.9 billion (€256 million) in foreign direct investments.

More than 82 percent of aggregate investments ended in the Bratislava region.

Aggregate foreign investments amounted to Sk368.1 billion (€9.1 billion) at the end of June. The highest sum - Sk86.9 billion (€2.2 billion) - came from Germany, according to a monetary survey by the National Bank of Slovakia.

From Slovakia, the highest volume of foreign direct investments went to the Netherlands, where Slovak businessmen invested Sk90 million (€2.2 million).
