Foreign Minister Lajčák visiting Germany

Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miroslav Lajčák, is in Germany today, May 10, for a working visit and will hold discussions with German Foreign Affairs Minister Guido Westerwelle and Christoph Heusgen, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chancellor, the SITA newswire reported.

Issues to be discussed are questions of bilateral cooperation, the current situation in the euro area, EU enlargement with an emphasis on the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership, and preparations for the NATO Summit in Chicago, according to the press and information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that the overall goal is to further strengthen political dialogue in priority areas of foreign policy.

The statement said emphasis will be placed on further deepening cooperation with Germany, a key foreign trade partner of Slovakia as well a major foreign investor in the Slovak economy as well as in areas such as innovation, new technologies and education.
