THE SDKÚ party of PM Mikuláš Dzurinda closed its election campaign with rally appearances by Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schussel and Luxembourg PM Jean-Claude Junker, as well as a televised address by European Commissioner for Enlargement Gunter Verheugen.
While Schussel and Junker openly supported the SDKÚ, which has been credited with the Dzurinda government's many foreign policy successes since 1998, Verheugen made no mention of the party in a neutral speech emphasizing the chance Slovakia now has of entering the European Union and Nato.
