The ages of the students range from 14 to 63, with the most numerous group aged between 18 and 24. Most of this year’s students came from Serbia, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland and Russia, while others came from countries like Japan and Syria.

Head of the Centre of the Further Education of the Comenius University (CĎV UK) – which organises the courses under the auspices of the Education Ministry – Janka Chládecká explained: “Our students want through the first week of their effort to improve their Slovak. Interactive teaching focused on communication, grammar, phonetics and life in Slovakia is completed with entertainment, knowledge and athletic competitions,” she said, adding that on July 17, students will take a three-day trip around Slovakia aimed at exposing them to the country’s history, culture and nature.
