The state-run forestry company Lesy SR wants to test public procurement via electronic auctions, the SITA newswire reported on August 18. The company’s management said it considers the approach to be a transparent and efficient system of procurement that will eliminate corruption and save approximately 15 percent of the cost of procured goods and services.
Lesy SR spokesman Peter Gogola stated that the trial period would last two months, during which 12 employees will be trained as administrators for the electronic auctions. In the first phase, the company will procure hydraulic oils, fencing material, ropes, occupational safety products, and office supplies. After the trial period, the forestry company will choose a supplier of electronic auctions and sign a contract for the following year.
