Its chief is now the former justice minister Tomáš Borec (2012-16), a Smer nominee.
In line with new rules, the supervisory board has ten members who are elected and recalled by the General Assembly. “Not only representatives of the Health Ministry but also those of the Finance, Justice and Interior Ministries, the political opposition and non-governmental organisations have been given a place on the board,” Health Minister Tomáš Drucker informed the TASR newswire on December 14. The new members have already assumed their posts.
The Health Ministry nominated Borec and Health Policy Institute head Martin Smatana. The NGOs are represented by Transparency International Slovakia director Gabriel Šípoš, while economist Marcel Klimek is the Opposition representative. The Finance Ministry selected František Palko as a board member, while the Interior and Justice Ministries nominated Marian Magdoško and employers chose former economy minister Tomáš Malatinský (2012-14). Three board members are VšZP insiders: Juraj Pacher, Iveta Baráneková and Anna Slamková.
