FOUR BIDDERS have progressed to the next round of a tender for a contract to supply the Slovak army with the so-called MOKYS mobile communication system. The Defence Ministry launched the multi-billion crowns tender one month ago.
The ministry's press department told the TASR news agency that the four bidders were US firms Harris Corporation New York - RF Communication Division, BAE Systems Information and Electronics Systems, Italian Selenia Communications, and French company Thales Communications.
The winner of the tender will sign a contract valid to the end of 2009, with an option for an additional five years, with the ministry. Due to the high technological demands of the project, the tender consists of four rounds. The final result will be announced at the end of this year.
MOKYS system is projected to implement the latest communication technology based on Internet protocol, which is a prerequisite for the complete inter-operability of the Slovak Army within NATO.
