The French Ambassador in Slovakia, Jean-Marie Bruno, visited the southern Slovak town of Komárno on March 21 and held talks on possible cooperation in science and education as well as partnerships between Slovak and French institutions, the embassy’s press attaché Didier Rogasik told the TASR newswire.
Before visiting Janos Selye University, Bruno met the mayor of Komárno, Anton Marek, and other representatives of the town.
"Komárno has been the first town in Nitra region visited by Bruno, as the Janos Selye University is located there, and the ambassador is interested in university towns," said the town’s vice-mayor, Vojtech Novák.
Bruno also attended a conference with students of the local university entitled 'Cultural and Language Diversity in Europe'.
"More than 100 students welcomed the ambassador. There were various questions…. The ambassador reacted diplomatically, saying that some issues don't lie within his authority," said university office head Mária Fabo, adding that the entire conference was held in English without interpretation.
