French car maker chooses Slovakia

The PSA Peugeot Citroen car maker announced it had chosen west Slovakia's Trnava as the site of a Sk28 billion ($700 million) factory investment that will employ 3,500 and is scheduled to come on line in 2006.

The factory will also employ an estimated 6,000 people in supply and service companies. Trnava region registers over 12 per cent unemployment, well below the national average of 18.6 per cent.
