Ftáčnik resigns, becomes head of SDA party

The founding congress of the Social Democratic Alternative (SDA) non-parliamentary party on April 13 elected Milan Ftáčnik as its chairman and co-founder Peter Weiss as vice-chairman and election team leader. Ftáčnik announced his resignation as Education Minister late last week, leaving the post to his former Social Democratic Left (SDĽ) party of the ruling coalition.
