Future U.S. Ambassador can speak Slovak

The United States’s nominee for the new ambassador to Slovakia has Slovak roots and can speak Slovak, the Pravda daily reported on September 13.

Vincent Obsitnik’s father came from a village near Humenné and his mother from a village near Michalovce, in eastern Slovakia, his relatives said.

The future U.S. Ambassador was born in the United States, where his parents came to live and work. He has visited Slovakia several times. He has even helped to raise funds for renovating wooden churches, well-known cultural monuments in eastern Slovakia.

Obsitnik has had a successful career with international companies such as IBM, Unisyis and Litton.
