THE CHRISTIAN Democratic Movement (KDH) party caucus expelled MP Peter Gabura after he violated the party's political discipline, the SITA newswire wrote on September 11. That made Gabura the first non-partisan MP in the current parliament.

The KDH claims that Gabura violated political discipline with several statements that ridiculed party functionaries. Caucus head Mária Sabolová said the party was particularly opposed to Gabura's statements about KDH leader Pavol Hrušovský in the Fakty weekly, which Gabura publishes.

Gabura wrote that Hrušovský was registered in the files of the communist secret police (ŠtB), and linked former KDH leader Ján Čarnogurský with the decline of agricultural cooperatives after the fall of the regime.

The expelled MP said he does not see any reason for the sanctions and plans to appeal.
