DEFENCE Minister Ľubomír Galko, a Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) nominee, has alleged that the former management of the ministry manipulated what is known as an annual complex evaluation report. The evaluation report for the election year of 2010 was altered, Galko told journalists on February 15, as reported by the SITA newswire.
The report was prepared by the team of his predecessor, Smer party nominee Jaroslav Baška, and the military also contributed to it.
“Given that it was the election year, all critical observations made by the ministry’s experts were dropped with the explanation that such an evaluation report simply cannot be issued in an election year,” Galko said, as quoted by SITA.
The minister now wants to ask the army’s top brass why they did not talk about delays in modernisation and plans as early as 2009-2010. The minister added that he is ready to take action if he finds out “that generals who were supposed to display a certain level of personal courage and personal responsibility did not display it to that level”.
A new strategic evaluation of the ministry has now been prepared, SITA reported.
