Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič left for Poland on September 10, where he is slated to attend a summit of heads of state of the Visegrad Four countries, the TASR newswire was told.
The two-day summit is to be held September 11-12 at the seaside town of Sopot. It will already be the 13th such gathering of presidents of V4 countries, with Slovenian President Danilo Turk this time in attendance as a guest.
On the first day of a plenary meeting, Lech Kaczynski (Poland), Václav Klaus (Czech Republic), László Sólyom (Hungary) and Gašparovič will discuss the results of the Polish V4 Presidency (July 1, 2008-June 30, 2009) and plans for further co-operation.
Solidarity and democracy in member states of the EU, NATO, the Eastern Partnership and countries of western Balkans, as well as energy security, will also be on the agenda. Gašparovicč will also hold bilateral talks with Kaczynski and Turk. A meeting with Sólyom was also planned, but it was later cancelled by Hungary, which currently holds the V4 presidency. TASR
