Problems surrounding the fiscal and financial situation of Slovakia and Europe were among the topics discussed by President Ivan Gašparovič and a group of US congressmen led by Dan Burton from Indiana, the TASR newswire reported.
Burton welcomed the good relations between the two countries and said that they should be cultivated. He also noted that the Indiana National Guard cooperates closely with the Slovak Army.
US congressmen Gregory Meeks, Ruben Hinojosa, Terri Sewell and Frederica Wilson are with Burton on a two-day visit to Slovakia. They will also meet the speaker of parliament, Pavol Hrušovský, Prime Minister Iveta Radičova and the state secretary, i.e. deputy minister, of the Foreign Ministry, Milan Ježovica.
