ACCORDING to Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič there are definitely no secret American prisons for Iraqi terrorists in Slovakia, nor has the US submitted any proposals concerning this issue, the TASR news wire reported.

"We wouldn't allow it anyway," Gašparovič said at a joint news conference with Romanian President Traian Basescu on November 9, which was devoted mainly to Slovak-Romanian issues.

"Slovakia and Romania are allies in the sphere of solving problems that are important for the world. I think that Iraq is still in a position that is not able to solve its own problems," Gašparovič added.

Basescu also ruled out the existence of CIA prisons in Romania.

The original report in The Washington Post on secret US prisons specified only Central Europe, and did not name any country.
