Gašparovič: No referendum needed on EU Constitution

SLOVAK President Ivan Gašparovič thinks no referendum is needed for EU Constitutional treaty ratification.

According to Gašparovič several constitutional clauses determine that the decision should be left to Parliament, the news wire TASR wrote.

"The treaty is not perfect, but we should ratify it unless we want to doubt the European Union," Gašparovič said, adding that he expects it would be possible to make amendments.
