President Ivan Gašparovič has filed an objection to the composition of the Constitutional Court’s panel assigned to judge the complaint Jozef Čentéš had filed against the president’s rejection to appoint him as Slovakia’s general prosecutor, the Sme.sk website reported on January 28.
Gašparovič lodged his complaint after Čentéš succeeded with his objection towards the original composition of the judicial senate that was to consider his complaint submitted on January 3. He claimed that two members of the panel, Milan Ľalík and Peter Brňák might be biased and partial. The senate comprising Justices Lajos Mészáros, Sergej Kohut and Juraj Horváth accepted the objection on January 24, and the Constitutional Court replaced Ľalík and Brňák with Ján Luby and Ladislav Orosz.
Both replacements judges were among the justices who did not support the court’s November ruling, which in fact gave Gašparovič the consent not to appoint Čentéš as top prosecutor, Sme.sk wrote.
Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court Anna Pančurová did not reveal any details about Gašparovič’s objection.
