General Prosecutor Jaromir Čižnár reprimanded Special Prosecutor Dušan Kováčik in written form for professional failings.
When one of Kováčik’s subordinates acted in a case and when Kováčik was delivered a motion by the lawyer to cancel an effective decision, he should have sent it to the General Prosecutor’s Office, but he didn’t. Čižnár decided on the minor disciplinary punishment last November.
The question comes, the Sme daily wrote, whether this step could in any way influence Kováčik’s chances to be selected for the top post at the Special Prosecutor’ Office. He is the only candidate. Čižnár did not comment on Kováčik’s chances.
As this disciplinary step was made by Čižnár only, and not by a whole disciplinary committee, it has not been published on the GPO website.
