The Slovak Statistical Office (ŠÚ) performed its third test of vote processing procedures on March 17, simulating the real conditions that will exist for the first round of Presidential voting to take place on Saturday, March 21, the TASR newswire reported.
About 950 people from all the statistical summarising departments of ŠÚ who will work with the local election committees took part in the test.
“The test is performed to check the connection through which the data from the summarising departments will be passed on the central office,” Ľudmila Benkovičová, the chair of the ŠÚ told TASR. The time needed for the processing of the election results was also examined.
The ŠÚ employees were also given error-filled protocols to find out if they knew how to identify and correct mistakes such as the difference between the number of votes cast and the number of valid votes.
The actual processing of the ballots will start on Saturday March 21 after 22:00 when the voting stations will be closed. Results should be ready by Sunday morning, March 22. After that it is up to the Central Election Committee to validate and officially announce the results, Benkovičová said, adding that the Central Committee should sign the protocol on Sunday night at the latest.
