THE LADIES European Tour (LET) will stop at the Gray Bear golf course in Tále over the weekend of May 26-29 for the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open. It will mark the second time Slovakia’s first championship course has hosted one of the prestigious LET events.
“The LET enjoys huge interest worldwide; thus we are glad to have the chance to organise this leg of the tour for the second time in Slovakia,” the promoter of the event, Jozef Soták, told the TASR newswire. One hundred and twenty-six professional golfers from 29 countries are due to compete over four rounds. The Slovak event has prize money of €350,000; the winner gets €52,000.
The only previous Slovak winner of a LET event, Zuzana Kamasová, plans to participate in the event. “I have always dreamt of the chance to play professional golf with top rivals at home. After my victory at the Lalla Meriem Cup in Morocco, I feel like I could be successful at my home course at Tále,” she announced before the tournament. Slovakia is also represented by a new talent, Natália Hečková, who is 16 years old.
The biggest stars of the tour include the first four players on the chart for nomination to the autumn Europe-versus-US Solheim Cup: Laura Davies and Melissa Reid (UK), Christel Boeljon (Netherlands), and Virginie Lagoutte-Clement (France). This year, the LET covers 27 events in 20 countries, including visits to China and Australia.
