THE TRADITIONAL Slovak brand name in domestic electrical appliances, Mora, has become part of the Slovenian concern Gorenje, Bogdan Urh, general director of Gorenje Slovakia, told the TASR news wire on November 29.
Gorenje Slovakia is now the owner of the Mora trademark.
In early 2005, the Slovenian producer of domestic electrical appliances took over Mora Moravia (Czech Republic), which produces some 400,000 products per year. Gorenje is now one of the biggest producers of cookers in Europe.
Mora Moravia's products were sold in Slovakia through Mora Slovakia's market network. "Some 30,000 cookers and 15,000 electrical appliances with the Mora trademark are sold annually," Urh said.
"Gorenje mainly profits from the production of refrigerators. After buying Mora, cookers will move into the forefront as well," Urh said.
According to Urh, with Mora's takeover Gorenje's market share increased to 58 percent. In addition, through Mora Moravia, the products will be produced under the trademark Gorenje. However, the Mora trademark will remain as well, since it has strong market share in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia.
