Gorilla investigation progresses

ANOTHER criminal complaint was filed in the infamous Gorilla case, concerning the alleged involvement of financial groups in politics.

“A criminal prosecution was launched for the crime of blackmail,” Andrea Predajňová, the spokesperson of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, told the SITA newswire. She added that the special prosecutor is working on a report on the state of the investigation and it should be presented to parliament next month. She did not provide any further details.

Private broadcaster TV Markíza reported on January 16 that the suspects are members of the second cabinet of Mikuláš Dzurinda (2002-6).

“Cabinet members were allegedly using blackmail with the aim of achieving the privatisation of Bratislava Airport in favour of one financial group,” Markíza reported, adding that the blackmailed person was allegedly the then transport minister, Pavol Prokopovič.
