Some of the main organisers of the Gorilla protests have disassociated themselves from their former colleagues saying that Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) party is now masterminding the protests and saying they will establish a new movement to fight for radical bolstering of direct democracy, the TASR newswire reported.
“[The Gorilla organisational team] features Peter Pčolinský. His brother works at the KDH-led Interior Ministry, his mom is a KDH member, his daddy is a KDH member,” said Stanislava Červeňová, who belongs to the group which left the organising team, as quoted by TASR, adding that another organiser, Lucia Gallová, also has links to the KDH party since her boyfriend is an active member.
Červeňová also said that the organisers violated freedom of speech when they allowed only selected people to deliver speeches during the protests while others saw their microphones turned off.
Alena Krempaská, the spokesperson for the Gorilla Protest organisation team, denied any hidden interests of political parties, saying that they have not denied anybody their right to protest and that the number of protesters is so large there is not enough time for everybody to deliver a speech.
The breakaway organisers said they will set the demands in a different way by creating small groups to discuss the issues and try to find solutions. The organisers said a list with the results of the discussions will be prepared and people will vote for the best solutions on the internet. The group wants to then present the best ideas in public referendums, the Sme daily reported.
