The fourth round of the Gorilla Protests and a planned march to the headquarters of the Penta financial group on Einsteinova Street in Bratislava which were to have been held on February 19 will not now take place after the organisers postponed the whole programme, the TASR newswire reported.
“This certainly does not mean that the protests have been cancelled, they are only postponed, as this march to Penta was an individual, reckless decision,” said Lucia Gallová, one of the organisers of the protests, which have been held to demonstrate against alleged high-level political corruption, as quoted by TASR. “In the view of the risks of such a march and insufficient consideration of the possible consequences, we did not want to put this event into focus.”
Organisers added that they now want to focus supporters’ attention on debating their main demands via the internet, public sessions and even by ‘roundtables’ with experts.
“Every protest has had a priority so far, but it was not able to push the community forward because communication was stuttering,” the organisers wrote on their Facebook site, adding that they would like to use the present period to improve it, TASR wrote.
