THE GOVERNING coalition announced plans to limit parliamentary immunity in cases when MPs are caught driving under the influence of alcohol, following a meeting of the Coalition Council on November 15, the TASR news wire reported.
Members of the Parliamentary Mandate and Immunity Committee will have the task of preparing such a proposal.
Member of the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS), MP Ján Cuper, caused a car accident in Modra (Bratislava region) while driving under the influence of alcohol. However, he will escape criminal prosecution due to his parliamentary immunity.
