The government at its regular session on June 25 okayed investment assistance for a number of companies operating in Slovakia, including the Košice-based Holcim Business Services, HYDAC Electronic from Tvrdošín, Trenčín-based LEONI Slovakia, SLOVAKTUAL from Pravenec, and TREVES Slovakia from Veľká Lomnica.
Holcim Business Services, which ranks among the largest producers and distributors of construction materials – especially cement – in Slovakia, has been granted assistance of €719,800 towards setting up a new strategic service centre in Košice. The facility is set to provide back-office services, accounting, procurements and reporting to other firms in Holcim’s portfolio.
“The aim is to supplement the company’s long-term industrial production in Slovakia with a new centre that will create jobs mainly for young university graduates with an ability to communicate in foreign languages,” reads the proposal drafted by the Economy Ministry. Holcim has pledged to create 61 new jobs by the end of 2015.
HYDAC Electronic will receive assistance of €3.13 million in the form of tax relief. The company should use the assistance towards expanding its production in Tvrdošín. The firm’s main line of business is the production and development of electric, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic components. It has pledged to create 106 new jobs by the end of 2019.
Supplier of wires, cables and wiring systems LEONI Slovakia will be granted assistance of €1.44 million for expanding its cable bundles plant. The assistance will be provided as tax relief. The firm is planning to create 170 new jobs by the end of 2017. It has been operating in Slovakia since 1992, spending more than €170 million to date. It currently employs more than 2,200 people at its five Slovak facilities.
Slovaktual has been promised assistance of €2.65 million for its plan to expand production and boost the production capacity of plastic windows at its existing plant. The help will be granted in the form of tax relief. In relation to the investment plan of the company, 120 new jobs are expected to be created by the end of 2017.
TREVES Slovakia will be granted a total of €1.48 million towards expanding its existing plant near Kežmarok. The new plant will produce thermal insulation and acoustic components for BMW, boot covers for Jaguar and Land Rover, and head supports for Toyota. The company manufactures plastic products and focuses on cutting, sewing and laminating materials for the automotive industry.
