The government on March 19 pledged support for the Sk4 billion (€122.77 million) amusement park project being developed under the title Vtáčie Údolie (Bird Valley) near Humenné, in the Prešov Region.
The project will be built by Dutch company Darc Leisure as a PPP (public-private partnership) programme over an area of 450 hectares, TASR wrote. Prime Minister Robert Fico said the Government has adopted a whole host of decisions relating to land earmarked for the project, in particular the Military Forests.
"I can clearly say that the government will back this project if it proves to be economically viable as the investor concerned must demonstrate its investment readiness," he told reporters.
With the exception of EuroDisney in Paris, the Vtáčie Údolie project will be unparalleled in Europe, featuring three mid-sized amusement centres based around different themes underlying Slovakia's rich and wide-ranging history. It will also include sports grounds, including a golf course, ski slope and zoo.
The government also expressed support for the construction of the industrial park in Medzilaborce, in the Prešov Region. Engineering firm HOPAX from the Czech Republic plans to invest some Sk400 million in the manufacturing of spare parts for cranes, creating 300 jobs in the process. TASR
