Further personnel changes in the posts of state secretaries at four ministries should take place on September 10. The government at its regular Wednesday session is expected to discuss the changes.
Radko Kuruc, who has served as the head of the Finance Ministry communications department and as an advisor to minister Peter Kažimír, is expected to become a state secretary at the ministry, according to information obtained by the TASR newswire. In the past, Kuruc was an advisor to erstwhile governor of the Slovak Central Bank (NBS) Ivan Šramko.
Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry state secretary Štefan Chudoba will allegedly be replaced by Juraj Draxler who has worked for the Centre for European Policy Studies think tank in Brussels.
Further changes are supposedly planned at the agriculture and economy ministries. Agriculture and Regional Development Ministry State Secretary Štefan Adam should be replaced by Jozef Speva. Economy Ministry State Secretary Dušan Petrík will be replaced by Miroslav Obert of the Nuclear and Decommissioning Authority (JAVYS) management board.
These changes follow an earlier set of alterations made at the beginning of the summer, when then education minister Dušan Čaplovič and economy minister Tomáš Malatinský submitted their resignations after talks with Prime Minister Robert Fico. Malatinský was replaced by Economy Ministry state secretary Pavol Pavlis, while Čaplovič was succeeded by former Finance Ministry state secretary Peter Pellegrini, TASR wrote.
It seems that undistinguished, low-key state secretaries are to be replaced by younger, more dynamic ones, the Sme daily summed up the series of changes.
