FAR-RIGHT leader Marian Kotleba’s victory in Banská Bystrica Region is the result of people's frustration with empty promises, and with the Roma issue not being addressed for the past 22 years, Government Proxy for Roma Communities Peter Pollák said in his reaction to the election results, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

"This result shows that people in Banská Bystrica Region basically expressed their disagreement with the standard political parties, which for the past 22 years haven't addressed the Roma issue. Therefore the people elected a man who offers easy solutions and populism," said Pollák, as quoted by TASR, adding that he has no idea how the situation in Banská Bystrica Region will continue to develop, as Kotleba basically represents what he called “Romaphobia”.

"This must be a warning to all, because all the people in this country and especially politicians must realise that hiding before the Roma issue is no longer possible," stressed Pollák.

Pollák also added that it has already been a year since his so-called Roma reform began.

"I believe that all who are responsible, including MPs, will now approve the laws that will come to parliament," said Pollák, as quoted by TASR, referring to legislative proposals drafted by his office as part of the extensive Roma reform prepared shortly after he took office in October 2012.
