The government on October 22 decided to suspend its discussion of an amendment to the Prosecution Act, Justice Ministry State Secretary Daniel Hudák stated.
The amendment, submitted to the government by Prosecutor-General Dobroslav Trnka, deals with changes resulting from Slovakia's introduction of the euro as of January 1, 2009. it also proposes that military prosecutors should wear robes instead of uniforms during court proceedings.
Hudák said that the discussion was suspended because the proposal didn't meet the conditions for shortened legislative proceedings, as promoted by Trnka. The amendment will therefore be dealt with in the standard manner. Amendment measures pertaining to euro adoption, such as rounding up or down the sums of various financial provisions, will either be approved in separate regulations or will be covered by the Euro Adoption Act, he said.
