ATTACKING one of the NATO members and its defence in cooperation with other NATO troops is part of the Ground Pepper training which takes place in Lešť military area situated in the Banská Bystrica Region.
“The training is a great opportunity to check the preparedness of our armed forces to cooperate with soldiers from other NATO member states,” said Defence Minister Martin Glváč, who attended it together with President Andrej Kiska on October 21, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “The armed conflicts do not know the borders and we, as a member of the Alliance, have to be prepared to respond if the situation requires it.”
Ground Pepper is the biggest international training of the Slovak Armed Forces this year. It is attended by nearly 1,300 soldiers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and also US soldiers from the military base in Indiana.
“It is an opportunity for our soldiers to train alongside soldiers from ally armies,” said head of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Milan Maxim, as quoted by TASR.
The training ends on October 22.
